Part number 8983463170 (also commonly written as 8-98346317-0/898346-3170) corresponds to the high-pressure supply pump assembly of the 4HK1 common rail engine in the Isuzu/Hitachi parts system (the pump that pressurizes fuel and sends it to the common rail). It is mainly suitable for Hitachi excavators equipped with 4HK1, commonly known as ZAXIS-3 generation models such as ZX200-3/ZX240-3/ZX270-3. However, the same pump will be bound with specific engine nameplate models/ECU calibration and inlet/outlet connection versions in different batches. Therefore, regular procurement must lock 8983463170 according to: complete machine model+engine serial number+pump body nameplate/old part label, rather than relying on the four words "4HK1 high-pressure oil pump" to replace it casually.

It is the "pressure source" of the common rail system: driven by the engine through gears/couplings, it absorbs oil from the low-pressure side, pressurizes it through an internal plunger, and then sends high-pressure oil into the common rail through an outlet valve/pressure limiting valve. The original factory assembly requires controlled clearance between precision coupling parts, matching of pump side pressure regulation logic with ECU calibration, and strict adherence to the drawings for external interfaces (inlet, return, common rail supply flange, installation stop/bolt distribution) and sealing surface flatness/thread tolerances in order to maintain reliable start-up, stable rail pressure, and no abnormal noise during long-term vibration and thermal cycling.

Daily: Only do two things - replace the specified filter element (coarse filter+fine filter) on schedule, and dust the fuel tank mouth; When the instrument reports "rail pressure fault/difficult to start/power limited", do not repeatedly hit the motor, first check the fuel supply side.   

Replacement/disassembly: The pressure must be released first, and the interface and the interior of the oil pipe must be kept clean; Disassembly and assembly should be carried out according to the force points on the pump installation surface. It is forbidden to hammer the pump casing or forcefully pry the flange; All copper pads/seals should be replaced and joints should be tightened according to the specified torque; After installation, exhaust the system (if allowed by the manual pump/diagnostic instrument) and check for any leaks.   

Rule bottom line: This type of part is basically not "partially repaired". If it is confirmed that the pump is worn, the internal leakage exceeds the tolerance, or the pressure limiting valve is stuck, the original part number 8983463170 (or a manufacturer approved remanufactured part) should be replaced, and usually the filter element/fuel tank should be cleaned synchronously, and if necessary, the data flow diagnosis of the fuel injector/common rail sensor should be carried out.
